MEADRAIN EN DRAINAGE SOLUTION
Near the capital Doha is the Losail International Circuit, a first-class racetrack in Qatar. It will be completed in time for the 2023 Formula 1 weekend after extensive renovation work. The renovations include contemporary pit lanes, VIP lounges and restaurants. First and foremost, the entire drainage system has also been renewed to ensure maximum safety and functionality. In 2009, for example, the MotoGP had to be moved from Sunday to Monday due to rain and lack of drainage infrastructure.
Solution – MEADRAIN EN drainage system
MEA Water Management supplied more than 50 containers with its MEADRAIN EN drainage solutions in various nominal sizes and supported the planners in the design and implementation. The MEADRAIN EN drainage channels made of polymer concrete are designed to withstand the highest possible loads (F900) and are therefore predestined for use on racetracks. The grates are solidly bolted to the channel body and cannot come loose for even more safety in use. More than 10,000 meters of drainage channels from MEA were installed. In addition, MEA Water Management developed and supplied prefabricated T and corner elements especially for this project for a clean and safe connection of the gutter lines underneath.
The Circuit strives to provide an unforgettable experience for all involved. The Losail International Circuit has a modern infrastructure, is approximately 5.28 kilometers long and offers motorsport fans from all over the world an exciting and challenging racetrack.
The Losail International Circuit is known for its fast straights and technically challenging corners. The circuit consists of a total of 16 corners, with 10 right turns, 6 left turns and a straight of more than 1000 meters.
Losail serves as a venue for well-known motorsport events such as the MotoGP or Formula 1.
