Once the dimensioning is complete, the basic parameters are determined: the required nominal diameter (DN), the necessary installation height (depending on the slope and installation depth), and the number and position of the drainage elements. Now, a specific product/system that meets these requirements is selected. In practice, a particular manufacturer’s system is often specified with the addition of “or equivalent.” The following points must be listed:
Channel body: material (polymer concrete, concrete, etc.), load class, nominal diameter, installation height, with/without inherent slope.
Covers: load class, material (e.g., cast iron), type (grate, etc.), and, if applicable, closure system (e.g., “with quick-release fastener”).
Inlet boxes: number, nominal size of the outlet (e.g., DN 150), with sediment bucket, material similar to the channel.
Accessories: end caps (number, with/without outlet), transition pieces, seals, screws, etc. For tenders based on the Standard Performance Specification (STLB), a clear description is necessary so that suppliers know what is required.
Example: Drainage channel class D400 according to DIN EN 1433, NW 150, length 1 m, polymer concrete with galvanized steel frame, cast iron grating D400 with quick-release fastener.
